January 24, 2011: Missionary Blitz
Over 100 young single adults came together in a combined effort to reach out to fellow single adults by inviting them personally to activities and to enjoy the blessings again of coming to church.
The group met at the Central Ward Building located in downtown Salt Lake City as friends but also as brothers and sisters in the faith ready to engage in real missionary work. The proceedings were kicked off by a truly wonderful devotional that invited the Spirit and strengthened everyone's testimony of the value of the pure love of Christ and the power of being enlisted in the work of the Lord.
The YSA's were divided into smaller groups and sent to seek out those who we had not seen in some time. According to one of the Multi-Stake YSA Leaders, Wyatt Petty, nearly every group was able to come into contact with at least one person to invite to church and to participate in the Young Single Adult program's activities.
This work greatly blessed the Central and Ensign Stakes as people were found, hands were outreached and sons and daughters of God were served. Whether the invitation was accepted or not, those leaders and friends who pray often for the welfare of those within their stewardship can now feel an added measure of peace.
When the work of finding and inviting was completed for the night all in attendance were served Lion House Pantry's famous rolls, the pantry's delicious chicken noodle soup as the entree and of course a healthy dose of delicious cookies. The event went on for at least an hour and a half overtime simply because the swapping of stories and giving of friendship was at least as fantastic as the dinner or more!
The upcoming activity should compliment this one as everyone will have the opportunity to put their best foot forward to go skating next month. With such a strong start in January, the rest of the year should prove to be the best the Bonneville YSA program has ever had!
